In the newsletter earlier this week, we noted that we were hoping to tie up some loose ends that would allow us to schedule a special volunteer work day.
We are quite pleased to report that the Splash Pad Forum (in cooperation with the Splash Pad Farmers Market Advisory Committee and with the support of Oakland's Public Works Department) has just been approved as a participant in the Give a Day. Get a Disney Day volunteer program.
All volunteers working on Sunday, February 28 (March 7, in case of rain) from 9:00am until 1:00pm will receive free passes to Disneyland.
This is an extremely popular program. Nearly 400 Disney volunteers showed up in the pouring rain at the Morcom Rose Garden for their Martin Luther King Day celebration.
This offer is limited to the first 50 volunteers and the minimum age is 6. If you're interested in helping in exchange for Disney passes, please sign up promptly by visiting this link.
Once there, type in "94610" for the zip code and "community" for the area of interest. The Splash Pad work day is currently at the top of the list.
If you're willing to volunteer, but have no real interest in going to Disneyland, we'd love to have you join us--particularly if you have gardening skills and/or are willing to help supervise a group of 5 to 10 volunteers. Please do, however, email us in advance at info@splashpad.org.
