Jessica Terwilliger
Co-Owner
Leatherworks

Jessica and the leatherwork she and her husband, Paul, create have been a regular fixture at the Grand Lake Market since its inception.  Their partnership began almost 30 years ago when they met in Amsterdam, Jessica's home.  Eventually, they moved their business back to the states, settling in Marin.  Although Paul does most of the leather-cutting and Jessica the sewing, they share all the other tasks equally:  designing, gluing, skiving and selling.  Jessica sells at this and two other weekly Farmers Markets interspersed with occasional crafts shows.

At the Grand Lake Market, they offer a broad selection of wallets, belts, purses, key rings, and so forth.  All their products are 100% leather with no plastics or synthetics.  They are also willing to undertake special orders.  Jessica pointed out the backpack/purse that is one of their most popular items.  It was inspired by a well-worn bag a stewardess asked them to  reproduce.  The original was klunky and unattractive, but the idea was sound.  Jessica and Paul improved on the original and ended up with a design that reflects her Dutch heritage.  Like all their products, it is attractive, but also durable and utilitarian.
