Splash Pad Fountain

The Splash Pad Fountain was designed by Walter Hood and his design team and was installed by Pacific Water Arts. During the meeting and survey process preceding park construction, a water feature of some kind was generally high on everybody's list -- either as a restored Splash Pad or a new fountain.

When funds for the park ran short, the community generously picked up the slack guaranteeing that a water feature would be included. The wisdom of that decision is borne out daily -- but especially so, on warm Saturdays as children (and an occasional adult) flock to the fountain.

Special thanks to Jaime Salazar, a City of Oakland employee assigned to pool maintenance. Jaime assumed maintenance of the fountain a couple of years after the park opened and he has since added ventilation to the vault that houses the pump and filter--both of which he upgraded and he also checks the ph levels weekly to make sure the water is safe.
