Splash Pad Park Farmers Market Advisory Board

• In late August 2010, Board Chair Jerry Barclay prepared a comprehensive update on the activities of the Farmers Market Advisory Board.

• In a December 19, 2007 email addressed to members of the Splash Pad Farmers Market Advisory Committee, Jerry Barclay included a lengthy, year-end report on the committee's deliberations. Prominently mentioned is an ongoing conflict between the market and some merchants on Grand and to a lesser extent on Lakeshore who maintain that their business is suffering on Saturdays due to lack of parking and competition from farmers market vendors. This and other subjects will be included on the agenda of the next Advisory Committee meeting on Wednesday January 16, 2008 beginning at 7:00PM. Meetings are held at the Lakeview School Auditorium accessible from the rear playground.

• At its October 2007 meeting, the Splash Pad Farmers Market Advisory Committee chaired by Jerry Barclay approved a long list of recommendations including immediate action steps required of the Farmers Market to mitigate problems affecting the park as well as area merchants. The Farmers Market management will be meeting with Pat Kernighan to discuss implementation of these recommendations. The Advisory Group will also continue to work with the Farmers Market as well as merchants and neighbors to resolve problems and find ways that all merchants can benefit from the market's success.
